Veteran commentator Hugh Porter has stepped down from his role on the BBC cycling team.
The BBC's voice of the sport for nearly 30 years, Porter called home every British cycling gold medalist since the Los Angeles Games in 1984.
The announcement was made in the opening minutes of the BBC's coverage of the 2013 UCI Track World Championships, in which this short tribute was broadcast featuring many of his greatest on-air moments.
Presenter Jonathan Edwards confirmed that Porter will be part of the BBC commentary team for the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics. He has called the speed skating events at the previous two Winter Games.
BBC 5 live's cycling commentator Simon Brotherton will replace Porter for its coverage of future Track World Cup and World Road/Track Championships.
